About The Programme:
Every first Saturday of each month we workshop 16 poets that made it into the program from 9:00am till 1:00pm, from February 2021 till November 2021. In the Space Dot Com from 14:00 till 17:00
Poetry Dot Slam is aimed at the development and promotion of a sustainable poetry industry through writing, performance and administration workshops. November 2016 saw the first South African National Slam, with representatives from all nine provinces competing for the SA National Poetry Slam Championship title. The title was taken by Western Cape’s Ashley Makue who represented South Africa at the Women Of The World Poetry Slam 2017 happening in Dallas, TX, USA on March 18-27. In 2019 winner Thuthukani Myeza went to the first ever Africa Cup of Slam Poetry in Chad on November 11-20, and came out 2nd place out of 36 countries.

About the event:
The Slam consists of;
Round1 = 1min poem,
Round2 = 2min poem
Round3 = 3min poem
Round4 = 4min poem

The Open Slam:
12 poets selected from the workshops will battle it out in a 4 round slam and a step closer to a slot in the S.A. National Slam as prizes.
