Are you an actor or director looking to grow, connect, and sharpen your craft?
Join us for the Script Reading Workshop Series – a professional development programme designed to help creatives build skills while engaging with classic plats, South African theatre, and new original works.

Over the course of 6 months, participants will:
• Strengthen cold reading and performance skills through scene work.
• Explore iconic plays from Shakespeare to South African greats like Fugard, Kani and Mtwa.
• Collaborate with emerging playwrights by reading and staging their new works.
• Build networks with fellow creative through reflection, feedback, and collaboration.
• Contribute to a final public staged reading showcase of new plays.

Programme Details
Duration: 6 months (one session per month, 2.5 – 3 hours)
Format per Session:
• Warm-up & professional development exercises
• Classic play excerpt reading & discussion
• Original script spotlight & feedback
• Reliction & networking

Are you a playwright looking to hear your work read aloud, receive professional feedback, and connect with actors and directors?
Apply to have your work featured in the Script Reading Workshop Series – a 6-month professional development programme that celebrates classic plays, South African theatre, and new voices in the industry.

What We Offer
• A safe, professional space for your script to be read by trained actors.
• Structed feedback and dramaturgical support to refine your work.
• The chance to hear your words come alive through live cold readings.
• Opportunities for networking and collaboration with actors and directors.
• A pathway to the final public staged reading showcase, where selected new works will be presented to an audience.

• South African play excerpt reading

How to Submit Your Work

3. An excerpt (5 – 10 mins) of your play for consideration.
