INDIE MUSIC RIGHTS AND ROYALTIES MASTERCLASS


The second edition of the rights attached to the Composition, Author and the Sound recording. Indie Master Class will take place on May 18th at Joburg Theatre, Cas Coovadia in Braamfontein and will bring together rights owners (composers, authors, studio producers, musicians, lead vocalists, backing vocalists, instrumentalists, and record labels).

This edition will be exploring “Copyright Royalties In Music Industry”. Throughout this afternoon, panel discussions will be held on the administration of copyright works and their use in their respective territories, collection and distribution of royalties (remuneration) and on-going supervisory role in relation to the licences granted by CMOs. The goal is to describe the bundle of rights attached to the composition and the sound recording. The first panel will focus on the “Upstream Rights” copyright in the compositions, collection and distribution of royalties (remuneration) and on-going supervisory role in relation to the licences granted by CMOs and The Publisher’s relationship with the Composer/Author.

The panellist will be SAMRO, CAPASSO & MPASA.
The second panel will focus on “Downstream Rights” copyright in the sound recording, collection and distribution of royalties (remuneration) and on-going supervisory role in relation to the licences granted by CMOs and The Publisher’s relationship with the Composer/Author.
The panellist will be AIRCO, SAMPRA & RISA.
