The Joburg Theatre parking garage is located at the corner of Simmonds and Stiemens Streets, Braamfontein, Johannesburg. The main pedestrian entrance is located at 163 Civic Boulevard, opposite the Metro centre offices (Civic Boulevard was previously known as Loveday Street).

SOUTH BOUND FROM JHB NORTH & PRETORIA
Take the N1 highway going South towards Johannesburg city
The N1 becomes the M1 highway (Ben Schoeman) still going South towards Johannesburg city
Take the Jan Smuts offramp. Keep in the left side lane but still going straight on Jan Smuts
Cross over Empire Road (major intersection)
Go up the hill, cross over Ameshoff (Wits on the right hand side)
At the next robot turn left into Jorissen Street
Carry on through quite a few sets of robots –
(Public holidays, evening & weekend performances)
At Simmonds Street turn left and go into the theatre’s new parking garage (cnr Simmonds & Stiemens Roads)
OR
(Day time visits Monday-Friday – parking is extremely restricted)
Stay in Jorissen and you’ll get to a point where the road splits (Loveday Street)
Take the left split, travel about 30m – turn left at the pedestrian robot into the Theatre’s main entrance, go down the ramp & park there
NORTH BOUND FROM JHB SOUTH
Take the M1 highway going North towards Johannesburg city
Take the Jan Smuts offramp.
At the top of the off ramp turn right and keep in the middle lane
Under the bridge move to the left side lane but still going straight on Jan Smuts
Cross over Empire Road (major intersection)
Go up the hill, cross over Ameshoff (Wits on the right hand side)
At the next robot turn left into Jorissen street
Carry on through quite a few sets of robots –
(Public holidays, evening & weekend performances)
At Simmonds Street turn left and go into the theatre’s new parking garage (cnr Simmonds & Stiemens Roads)

Keep in the left side lane but still going straight on Jan Smuts
Cross over Empire Road (major intersection)
Go up the hill, cross over Ameshoff (Wits on the right hand side)

From the parking garage
As you come out the parking garage (garage on the corner of Simmonds & Stiemens) you turn left into Simmonds.
At the next robots turn left into Jorissen
The road splits, take the left turn into Loveday
The road splits again, take the left turn into Hoofd
At the stop street turn right into Melle
At the next stop street turn left into Empire
At the robots turn right onto Jan Smuts – get into the extreme left lane – this becomes the on-ramp onto the highway
You will then be on the M1 travelling North towards PTA
TO LEAVE THE THEATRE (TRAVELLING SOUTH):
From the parking garage
As you come out the parking garage (garage on the corner of Simmonds & Stiemens) you turn left into Simmonds.
At the next robots turn left into Jorissen
The road splits, take the left turn into Loveday
The road splits again, take the left turn into Hoofd
At the stop street turn right into Melle
At the next stop street turn left into Empire
Go straight through the robots at the intersection of Jan Smuts & Empire Road
At the next set of robots turn right – this becomes the on-ramp onto the highway
You will then be on the M1 traveling South
Parking
Joburg Theatre has plentiful secure underground parking available from 5pm until 3am on weeknights and from 7am to 3am on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays.
The parkade is accessed at the corner of Stiemens and Simmonds Streets in Braamfontein and is sign-posted from all directions to the theatre.
There is no parking fee payable at present.
There is direct access to the theatre from the parkade by elevators and escalators.
Please note that this parkade is not available to the theatre during weekdays prior to 5pm and our daytime parking from Monday to Friday is, unfortunately, extremely limited. If you are visiting the theatre during these times, our security team on duty will assist in every way possible.
Security
Joburg Theatre employs its own 24/7 security team, headed by three Security Managers and three Security Supervisors.
The entire building, both internally and externally – together with the parkade – is patrolled regularly.
